This morning while outside with the pups, i felt that familiar cool crisp in the air that meant summertime was coming to a close.

I’m feeling love/hate for the cooler seasons to come. I’ve grown so attached to splendid year-round California weather that i’m almost depressed to see it go.

I love fall weather. I love boots. I love snow for about a week. I love autumn and winter holidays. I love cool weather fashion. i love crazy freak storms and weather. and i love Christmas music.

Ok. So naturally i’ve come to my senses and have changed my mind. Like always. It honestly doesn’t take much- especially when i start thinking about Dean Martin & Bing Crosby’s velvety voice singing Christmas carols…. and cute pea coats…

i’m excited for autumn to come!

bring it Jack Frost!

However, despite my sudden cool weather obsession, I’ve got some lovely summer photos for you by the equally lovely clothing line Chance

Dog days of summer.

After a day of  work, meetings and preparing for next term it was nice to come home, relax and spend some time outside with the pups.

Artie and Zeus (friends dog) would do anything for a game of fetch and Leo… well he likes to sit and watch. He also likes to nip your okole if you try to run away from him. Painfully cute and funny.

Family Reunion

DSCN3996.JPG_effected

This weekend Scott’s dad came to visit and we joined him at the reunion of Grandma Arnett’s side of the family!

The drive up to the campground was gorgeous!!

I seriously love Utah’s scenery!

Here is Great Aunt Priscilla and Grandma Arnett chit-chatting

We enjoyed the hikes, the new faces, the family and the laughs.

(Scott and his dad)

3 of the Johnson sisters singing a lovely song before the family talent show.

Unfortunately Scott had work so we couldn’t stay over night- but we came back the next day just in time to enjoy the lake!

We chose to take a paddle boat out to romp around in.

Scott absolutely loves paddle boating around lakes and well… usually i’m not to fond of the boats but things are always 10000 times better with my hubby :)

One with nature we were.

My father in-law was scooping water out with a Uath Jazz hat and splashing people with it. I secretly think he’s a hug Laker fan at heart :)

Mahaha. Take that you Jazz fans!

It was a fun weekend and i’m glad we had the opportunity to meet new family members :)

Hairy mountain man look may be a little out of season..

Today is the first day of summer!! Yahoooooo!

And it’s a lovely 80 degrees here in the land of the many aquifers.

and today we celebrated by chowing down on fresh blueberries and cutting Scotts hair.

Here’s the hubby ‘do’ before the great summer cut.

pretty shaggy huh?

i love the hubs regardless but i’d have to admit this is my favorite look on him..

Oh p.s he doesnt style it like that..

Warning! This next picture may make you cringe!

Oh dear..

Check out that chunk of hair wanting to be in the picture.

Oh and yes…. he is shirtless. He doesn’t like getting hairs caught in his shirts

:drumroll please:

Ta-da!!!!

Scott wants to grow out a mullet!

bam!

Oh! and p.s.s i really didn’t leave his hair like that!

You know.. long ago they used to dump their sewage in this lake. Yeah.. well we’re still going swimming!

Today was a beutiful semi-summer day!

Despite the crippling allergies we decided to pack up the pups and head for the lake!

Lucky for us, the campgrounds near the lake were practicully submerged due to rain and snow meltage.

i felt like we were in a swamp.

The dogs of course loved every second of it.

Artie attempted to catch some ducks but sticks floating in the water were more appealing to him.

Leo is still getting used to deep waters. So Scott had to give him a prep talk.

But! We got him swimming in the deep! Once i swam out deep he followed

Artie seriously can swim for an hour straight with no rest.

Crazy super-dog with lots of energy.

And guess what? he’s still not tired enough to take a little snooze!

Leo on the other hand needs to take little rest breaks every now and then.

Even if it means sitting in the swamp parking lot.
